Shredlage Processing Affects the Digestibility of Maize Silage

چکیده
Maize silage is one of the most important feeds for ruminant nutrition and various production methods can have a significant impact on their quality, especially utilization nutrients. The objective study was to evaluate effect conventional shredlage processing harvested maize kernel processing, fermentation profile, physically effective fibre digestibility silage. A stay-green hybrid with forage harvester (CON; theoretical length cut 10 mm; rollers 30% difference in roller speed; horizontally teeth; 1-mm roll clearance) or processor (SHR; 25 Shredlage crop 50% sawtooth teeth counter-rotating spiral groove; stored experimental silos. silages were analysed chemical composition (dry matter, organic crude protein, fibre, neutral detergent starch), parameters (pH, lactate, acetate, ammonia), quality (kernel score, particle size), (peNDF) vivo nutrient digestibility. (SHR) plants did not an profile. On other hand, SHR treatment significantly increased score (p < 0.01) peNDF content 0.01). also significantly, namely that dry matter (DM), starch, (NDF). An increase leads higher values NEL. presented results show positive effects

Maize silage for dairy cows
This paper reviews the use of maize silage in pastoral dairying systems in New Zealand. The evolution of dairying systems to make profitable use of maize silage and other supplementary feeds has occurred during the last decade in conjunction with an increased use of maize silage. When used within recommended levels of feeding, maize silage provides a low cost source of starch and fibre which co...
متن کاملSubstituting oat hay or maize silage for portion of alfalfa hay affects growth performance, ruminal fermentation, and nutrient digestibility of weaned calves
OBJECTIVE The impact of forage feeding strategy on growth performance, ruminal fermentation and nutrient digestibility in post-weaning calves was investigated. METHODS Forty-five female Holstein calves (body weight [BW] = 79.79±0.38 kg) were enrolled in the 35-d study at one week after weaning and randomly assigned to one of three dietary treatments. All diets were fed as total mixed ration c...
متن کاملBiogas Production from Maize Grains and Maize Silage
The main objective of this work was anaerobic digestion of maize grains and maize silage and biogas production from these crops. Maize grains were treated using one-stage and two-stage anaerobic techniques; using hydrolysis and acidification as the first stage and methanogenesis as the second stage. Processing nonacidified maize grains in an anaerobic reactor is more stable, though the anaerobi...
متن کاملEffect of Corn Shredlage on lactation performance and total tract starch digestibility by dairy cows
The objective of this trial was to determine the effect of feeding a TMR containing Corn Shredlage (SHRD; Shredlage LLC, Tea, SD) or conventionally processed corn silage (KPCS) on lactation performance by dairy cows. The KPCS was harvested using conventional rolls (3-mm gap) and set at a 19-mm theoretical length of cut. The SHRD was harvested using novel cross-grooved rolls (2.5-mm gap) and set...
متن کاملThe dynamics of the bacterial communities developed in maize silage
Ensilage provides an effective means of conserving summer-grown green forage to supply as winter feed to ruminants. The fermentation process involved in the ensilage process relies on lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Here, 16S ribosomal DNA amplicon pyrosequencing was used to follow the dynamic behaviour of the LAB community during the ensilage of maize biomass, with a view to identify the key speci...
