چکیده

Abstract SAMP-5 is a short histidine-derived antimicrobial peptidomimetic with pendant dialkylated tail. In this study, we evaluated the potential of as an agent to combat multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria. showed potent activity (minimum inhibitory concentration 16-64 μg/ml) comparable melittin against Escherichia coli (MDREC) and (MDRPA). displayed no cytotoxicity three mammalian cells such mouse macrophage RAW264.7, embryonic fibroblast NIH-3T3, human bone marrow SH-SY5Y at 128 μg/ml. resistance proteolytic degradation pepsin, trypsin, α-chymotrypsin, proteinase K. Importantly, unlike ciprofloxacin, antibiotic arose for Pseudomonas aeruginosa during 7 days serial passage 0.5 × MIC. Moreover, synergy or additive effects MDRPA MDREC, when it combined chloramphenicol, oxacillin. Collectively, our results suggested that promising alternative adjuvant treat infections caused by

Combination antibiotic therapy for multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria

Combination antibiotic therapy for Gram-negative sepsis is controversial. The present review provides a brief summary of the existing knowledge on combination therapy for severe infections with multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas spp., Acinetobacter spp., and Enterobacteriaceae. Empirical combination antibiotic therapy is recommended for severe sepsis and septic shock to reduce mortality related to...

Trends of 9,416 multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.

OBJECTIVE a resistance of hospital-acquired bacteria to multiple antibiotics is a major concern worldwide. The objective of this study was to investigate multidrugresistant (MDR) bacteria, clinical specimens, origin of specimen and trends, and correlate these with bacterial sensitivity and consumption of antimicrobials. METHODS 9,416 bacteria of nosocomial origin were evaluated in a tertiary ...

Antibacterial activities of selected edible plants extracts against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria

BACKGROUND In response to the propagation of bacteria resistant to many antibiotics also called multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria, the discovery of new and more efficient antibacterial agents is primordial. The present study was aimed at evaluating the antibacterial activities of seven Cameroonian dietary plants (Adansonia digitata, Aframomum alboviolaceum, Aframomum polyanthum, Anonidium. ma...

Predatory Bacteria: A Potential Ally against Multidrug-Resistant Gram-Negative Pathogens

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria have emerged as a serious threat to human and animal health. Bdellovibrio spp. and Micavibrio spp. are Gram-negative bacteria that prey on other Gram-negative bacteria. In this study, the ability of Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus and Micavibrio aeruginosavorus to prey on MDR Gram-negative clinical strains was examined. Although the potential use of p...

Studies on tridecaptin B(1), a lipopeptide with activity against multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria.

Previously other groups had reported that Paenibacillus polymyxa NRRL B-30507 produces SRCAM 37, a type IIA bacteriocin with antimicrobial activity against Campylobacter jejuni. Genome sequencing and isolation of antimicrobial compounds from this P. polymyxa strain show that the antimicrobial activity is due to polymyxins and tridecaptin B1. The complete structural assignment, synthesis, and an...
