Shifting Sands: Assessing Bankline Shift Using an Automated Approach in the Jia Bharali River, India

چکیده
Bank erosion hazard is a frequent occurrence that poses threats to floodplain ecosystems. This analysis examined changes the Jia Bharali River channel in India using GIS-based Digital Shoreline Analysis System [DSAS]. The Bharali’s future was predicted so as identify most erosion-susceptible zones. rate of bankline movement calculated remotely sensed data collected over period 45 years (1976–2021). results show river’s and deposition rates were higher early than towards later part under analysis. On right left banks river, average shift −9.22 5.8 m/y, respectively, which comparatively high. chosen portion river evenly divided into three zones, A, B, C. positively affected zone A. bank B exhibited bank, indicating moving [eastward] this zone. At same time, being eroded faster left, westward thrust at result demonstrates C would have migration rate. Therefore, these identified susceptible erosion. study evaluates spatio-temporal change sensitive regions where neighboring settlements infrastructure risk changing dynamics. Using actual forecasted bankline, degree accuracy confirmed. automated prediction approach could be useful for management similar environmental settings with tropical high precipitation

The shifting sands algorithm
We resolve the problem of small-space approximate selection in random-order streams. Specifically, we present an algorithm that reads the n elements of a set in random order and returns an element whose rank differs from the true median by at most n while storing a constant number of elements and counters at any one time. This is optimal: it was previously shown that achieving better accuracy r...
متن کاملIranian Wedding Invitations in the Shifting Sands of Time
As a distinct socially constructed genre, wedding invitations (WIs) offer a fruitful site for investigating how two areas of genre knowledge (i.e., form and content) change over time under the influence of sociocultural forces. Through the examination of 100 Iranian WIs dating from 1970s to the present time, the study investigated the trajectories of change through time within the social semiot...

متن کاملBuilding a Sea Urchin on Shifting Sands
Constructing a multicellular organism from scratch is a staggeringly challenging task. It seems even more miraculous when you consider that it’s actually entirely orchestrated by a few thousand genes and their protein products, acting (largely autonomously) within each one of the rapidly dividing cells. The most crucial of these genes and proteins regulate each other in intricately interconnect...
