چکیده
Members of Artiodactyla can contract the infectious disease Malignant Catarrhal Fever (MCF), which has a wide range symptoms. Ten known viruses contribute to disease, two most significant ones being Ovine gamma herpes virus 2 (OvHV-2) and Alcelaphine 1 (AIHV-1). In African subcontinent, AIHV-1 is seen in MCF cases. Indian scenario, virus-2 main culprit. reported certain pockets India. Its threat wildlife not yet completely understood. AIHV-1, wildebeests serve as primary reservoir, whereas with OvHV-2, reservoir sheep. India, OvHV-2 causes deer species, bison, water buffaloe. The life cycle properties this are wholly deciphered. To understand impact it may pose future, we need have diagnostic techniques place. Currently, PCR commonly used technique. Work should be done on field-oriented tests like ELISA LFA, helpful areas without sophisticated lab facilities. Treatment protocols must place, culling bovines an accepted policy Probable plans for overcoming all these problems discussed article.

MCF is defined by the recognition of characteristic lymphoid cell accumulations in non-lymphoid organs, vasculitis, and T-lymphocyte hyperplasia in lymphoid organs, and can be caused by either of two gamma-herpesviruses. The alcelaphine herpesvirus-1 (AIHV-1), the natural host of which, the wildebeest, is infected inapparently, causes the disease in cattle in regions of Africa and various rumin...
متن کاملMalignant catarrhal fever.
Malignant catarrhal fever is briefly reviewed and recent findings are described. Initially the disease was observed as a disease of cattle in Europe where, although no cause could be identified, circumstantial evidence implicated sheep as a source of infection and it was thus designated 'sheep-associated' malignant catarrhal fever. Subsequently the disease was observed in Africa where it became...
