چکیده
Abstract This research investigates the behaviour of novel U‐connector used in cold‐formed steel (CFS) truss‐to‐column connection. The novelty is reflected specially designed connector geometry and connection method within cross‐section thin‐walled C‐profile. installed inside can be exposed to tensile, compressive shearing action. shear thoroughly investigated using laboratory tests. Three different loading scenarios are carried out evaluate strength C‐profile detailed analysis Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique for measuring displacement. failure modes observed during experiments described analysed. DIC technology accurately identify initiation each component In addition, two methods calculating bearing resistance proposed according recommendations given standard EN 1993‐1‐3. These aim provide accurate estimates connection's capacity.

Educational Shake Table Models of Cfs Shear Walls
Small-scale, instructional shake tables, such as the UCIST shake table, are used at many colleges and universities to provide educational and research experiences in seismic behavior of structural systems. This paper describes the development of a physical model and associated educational materials that demonstrate the seismic behavior of shear walls used in cold-formed steel (CFS) building sys...
متن کاملInfluence of Shear Connection Distributions on the Behaviour of Continuous Steel-concrete Composite Beams
For this purpose a finite element model specifically developed for the nonlinear analysis of steel-concrete composite beams is adopted. This finite element model includes material nonlinearity of slab concrete, reinforcement steel, beam steel as well as slabbeam nonlinear partial interaction due to the deformable shear connection. The inclusion of the partial interaction in the composite beam m...

seismic retrofit strategies have been developed in the past few decades following the introduction of new seismic provisions and the availability of advanced materials and methods. it can be observed that new approaches to deal with more lateral forces are more innovative and more energy absorbent. in line with this, there is a growing trend toward the use of steel shear walls as a system with ...

Introduction Seismic anisotropy is often explained in terms of effective media where an ordered ensemble of sub-seismic elements leads to a directional variation of the materials properties. Examples of such systems include aligned cracks or fractures, fine layering and correlated pore space. Therefore, measurements of seismic anisotropy potentially allow insights to physical systems which woul...
متن کاملSIMULTANOUS OPTIMIZATION OF SIZE AND CONNECTION ARRANGEMENT FOR LOW-RISE STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALL SYSTEMS
The present study is concerned with the simultaneous optimization of the size of components and the arrangement of connections for performance-based seismic design of low-rise SPSWs. Design variables include the size of beams and columns, the thickness of the infill panels, the type of each beam-to-column connection and the type of each infill-to-boundary frame connection. The objective functio...
