چکیده
Abstract Background Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is typically seen in females of childbearing period; therefore, it possible that female sex hormones have a pathogenic role IIH. Obesity considered as strong risk factor for IIH, Leptin levels the serum and CSF were found to be positively correlated with anthropological measures obesity. The leptin pathogenesis idiopathic not fully understood. aim this work was assess leptin, estradiol, testosterone, Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) patients. Results This case control study which conducted on 38 IIH patients controls. had significantly higher Leptin, estradiol testosterone than controls ( P value < 0.001, 0.005 respectively), whereas there no statistically significant difference between DHEAS = 0.142). body mass index (BMI) ≥ 30 kg/m 2 BMI 0.009, respectively). Conclusions Patients express characteristic elevation levels. These are elevated high BMI.

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) results in raised intracranial pressure (ICP) leading to papilledema, visual dysfunction, and headaches. Obese females of reproductive age are predominantly affected, but the underlying pathological mechanisms behind IIH remain unknown. This review provides an overview of pathogenic factors that could result in IIH with particular focus on hormones and...

Gender has an important influence on blood pressure, with premenopausal women having a lower arterial blood pressure than age-matched men. Compared with premenopausal women, postmenopausal women have higher blood pressures, suggesting that ovarian hormones may modulate blood pressure. However, whether sex hormones are responsible for the observed gender-associated differences in arterial blood ...
