Methods: cohort study with 279 children from both sexes (5-12 years old), indicated ambulatory surgery in two Brazilian hospitals. Children were assessed at pre-surgery, immediate day. Faces Pain Scale-Revised Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale Modified used. Severe was defined as score ≥6. Cox regression analyses Results: of 15.8% (95%CI:10.7%-20.4%) anxiety (HR=2.23; p=0.049), preoperative (HR=2.78; p=0.031) having undergone surgical procedures (HR=2.91; p=0.002) associated pain. Conclusions discharge high. pain, addition performing same time confirmed factors.

متن کاملChronic disease outcomes after severe acute malnutrition in Malawian children (ChroSAM): a cohort study
BACKGROUND Tackling severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is a global health priority. Heightened risk of non-communicable diseases (NCD) in children exposed to SAM at around 2 years of age is plausible in view of previously described consequences of other early nutritional insults. By applying developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD) theory to this group, we aimed to explore the long-term...

UNLABELLED Postoperative pain is a common reason for the delayed discharge and unanticipated hospital admission of out-patients. In this study, we examined the pattern of pain in ambulatory surgical patients and determined those factors that predict postoperative pain. Ten thousand eight consecutive ambulatory surgical patients were prospectively studied. Preoperative patient characteristics, i...
متن کاملPostoperative pain management after ambulatory surgery: role of multimodal analgesia.
Multimodal (or balanced) analgesia represents an increasingly popular approach to preventing postoperative pain. The approach involves administering a combination of opioid and nonopioid analgesics. Nonopioid analgesics are increasingly being used as adjuvants before, during, and after surgery to facilitate the recovery process after ambulatory surgery. Early studies evaluating approaches to fa...
