چکیده

Background: The study evaluated the effects of regular blood donation on serum transferrin and soluble receptor levels at Wenchi Methodist Hospital. Methods: This was a hospital-based cross-sectional conducted Medical Laboratory Department Hospital in Bono Region Ghana. A total eighty-nine (89) venous samples from apparently healthy donors were analyzed. Complete count parameters analyzed using an automated haematology analyzer ELISA. data SPSS version 22.0. Results: Haemoglobin (p<0.001) HCT (p=0.004) significantly lower among compared with first-time donors. Regular had relatively higher (p<0.001). negative correlation observed between Hb (r=-0.552, p<0.001), as well p<0.001). Remunerated (p=0.001) HCT% but (p=0.041) than non-remunerated Conclusion: erythrocyte receptors, indicating possible reduction iron stores. Moderate correlations exist both receptors. Again, remunerated receptors Periodic assessment is recommended. future longitudinal to assess entire profile Doi: 10.28991/SciMedJ-2022-04-03-01 Full Text: PDF

A single-nucleotide polymorphism in transferrin is associated with soluble transferrin receptor levels in Chinese adolescents

Background and Objective: Associations between genetic variants in the hepcidin regulation pathway and iron status have been reported in previous studies. Most of these studies were conducted in populations of European descent and relatively few studies have been conducted in Chinese populations. In this study, we evaluated associations between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the hepc...

Measurement of soluble transferrin receptor in serum of healthy adults.

The concentration of soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR) in serum is reported to be useful in the diagnosis of iron deficiency, especially for patients with concurrent chronic disease, where routine tests of iron status are compromised by the inflammatory condition. A new diagnostic assay for sTfR is calibrated against natural plasma sTfR, thus minimizing calibration discrepancies that result f...

anti-HGV antibodies directed against the E2 structural protein (immunoenzymatic method), a reliable serologic marker of past HGV infection followed by viral clearance.8 Serum specimens were taken at the onset of the disease and stored at –20°C; we found only one patient with HGV positivity by RT-PCR (3%). Twenty-six of 33 patients were positive for anti HGV/E2 antibodies (78.8%) suggesting past...

Regulation of transferrin receptor 2 protein levels by transferrin.

Transferrin receptor 2 (TfR2) plays a critical role in iron homeostasis because patients carrying disabling mutations in the TFR2 gene suffer from hemochromatosis. In this study, iron-responsive regulation of TfR2 at the protein level was examined in vitro and in vivo. HepG2 cell TfR2 protein levels were up-regulated after exposure to holotransferrin (holoTf) in a time- and dose-responsive mann...

Effect of intravenous ascorbic acid medication on serum levels of soluble transferrin receptor in hemodialysis patients.

Intravenous ascorbic acid (IVAA) medication has been shown to facilitate iron release from inert depots and subsequently circumvent the defective iron utilization in chronic hemodialysis (HD) patients who are treated with recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO). This study focuses on the effects of IVAA supplementation on serum concentrations of soluble transferrin receptors (TfR) on the basi...
