چکیده

Humans always mount a robust immune response to the bacterial infection caused by Helicobacter pylori, which causes various gastrointestinal tract infections. Calprotectin (CALP) and B-Cell Activating Factor (BAFF) are inflammatory biomarkers having role in neutrophilic infection. The study was designed assess serum CALP BAFF as H. pylori peptic ulcer patients. current comprised 112 people, including 62 pylori-infected patients (34 men 28 women) who were clinically diagnosed with via testing positive for stool antigen test; they compared control group of 50 healthy people 16 age gender- matched level assayed using ELISA technique. biochemical parameters statistically between controls unpaired Man-Whitney U t-test Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. There significant elevation [116.4(120.7), p=0.0132] comparison [99.50(115.8)]. Similarly, there concentration [485.7(367.1), p=0.0014] [444.5(513.0)]. ROC analysis suggests reasonable (p=0.0135, p=0.0015) area under (0.6361, 0.6748), respectively. potent involved development etiology Serum levels could be used chronic inflammation induced pylori. can combined diagnose predict prognosis

Sputum and serum calprotectin are useful biomarkers during CF exacerbation.

BACKGROUND Adequate monitoring of cystic fibrosis lung disease is difficult. CF exacerbation offers a unique setting to test the utility of biomarkers in the assessment of changing airways inflammation. We hypothesised that levels of calprotectin in sputum (and serum) would change informatively following treatment of an exacerbation. METHODS 27 patients with CF were recruited at onset of pulm...

B-Cell-Activating Factor and the B-Cell Compartment in HIV/SIV Infection

With the goal to design effective HIV vaccines, intensive studies focused on broadly neutralizing antibodies, which arise in a fraction of HIV-infected people. Apart from identifying new vulnerability sites in the viral envelope proteins, these studies have shown that a fraction of these antibodies are produced by self/poly-reactive B-cells. These findings prompted us to revisit the B-cell diff...

B-Cell Activating Factor Levels in Saliva and Serum before and after Treatment of Oral Infections

Background: B-cell activating factor belonging to the TNF family (BAFF) levels may increase in response to oral infections. The aim of the study was to evaluate saliva and serum BAFF levels in patients with oral infection and to monitor them after dental treatments. Materials and methods: Fifteen patients with an oral infection foci including pericoronitis (n = 7) and irreversible pulpitis (n =...

Serum Calprotectin: A Potential Biomarker for Neonatal Sepsis

INTRODUCTION The correct diagnosis of neonatal sepsis is a relevant problem because sepsis is one of the most important causes of neonatal morbidity, mortality, and prolonged hospital stay. Calprotectin is an antimicrobial, calcium and zinc binding heterocomplex protein that could be used as a nonspecific marker for activation of granulocytes and mononuclear phagocytes. Calprotectin has been pr...

A potential role for B-cell activating factor in the pathogenesis of autoimmune myasthenia gravis.

OBJECTIVE To compare serum B-cell activating factor (BAFF) levels in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) with those in control subjects without MG. DESIGN Case-control study. Subjects Forty-three patients with MG were compared with control subjects without MG. These included 48 healthy subjects, 25 patients with multiple sclerosis, and 3 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. RESULTS...
