چکیده
Abstract Background Pneumococcal pneumonia is the leading cause of under-five mortality globally. The surveillance pneumococcal serotypes therefore vital for informing vaccination policy and programmes. conjugate vaccines (PCVs) have been available as an option in private healthcare setting beginning December 2020, PCV10 was incorporated part routine national immunisation programme (NIP) Malaysia. We searched existing literature on serotype distribution across Malaysia to provide overall view this before implementation PCV10. Methods Online databases (PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE Scopus), reference lists articles identified, grey (Malaysian Ministry Health website, WHO website) were systematically relevant up 10th November 2020. No lower date limit set maximise number target reports returned. Results split by age categories, including ≤5 years, > 5 years unreported those that did not specify. search returned 18 results, with a total 2040 isolates. most common all disease types 19F ( n = 313, 15.3% [95%CI: 13.8–17.0]), 23F 166, 8.1% 7.0–9.4]), 14 (n 6B 163, 8.0% 6.9–9.2]) 19A 138, 6.8% 5.8–7.9]). Conclusion Four isolate sources are covered PCV10, while PCV13 provides greater coverage comparison There still need studies, particularly investigating children under age, monitor vaccine effectiveness population dynamic following into immunisation.

Novel Clones of Streptococcus pneumoniae Causing Invasive Disease in Malaysia
Although Streptococcus pneumoniae is a leading cause of childhood disease in South East Asia, little has previously been reported regarding the epidemiology of invasive pneumococcal disease in Malaysia and very few studies have explored pneumococcal epidemiology using multilocus sequence typing (MLST). Here we describe serotype, multilocus sequence type (ST), and penicillin susceptibility of th...
متن کاملSerotype and Genotype Distribution among Invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae Isolates in Colombia, 2005–2010
In Colombia, a laboratory-based surveillance of invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates as part of SIREVA II PAHO has been conducted since 1994. This study describes the serotype distribution, antimicrobial resistance, and genetic relationships of pneumococcal isolates recovered in Colombia from 2005 to 2010. In this study, demographic data of invasive S. pneumoniae isolates were analyzed, a...
متن کاملSerotype-specific mortality from invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae disease revisited
BACKGROUND Invasive infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococci) causes significant morbidity and mortality. Case series and experimental data have shown that the capsular serotype is involved in the pathogenesis and a determinant of disease outcome. METHODS Retrospective review of 464 cases of invasive disease among adults diagnosed between 1990 and 2001. Multivariate Cox proportion...

OBJECTIVE To provide guidance for clinical disease prevention and treatment, this study examined the epidemiology, antibiotic susceptibility, and serotype distribution of Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) associated with invasive pneumococcal diseases (IPDs) among children less than 14 years of age in Shenzhen, China. MATERIALS AND METHODS All the clinical strains were isolated from ch...

BACKGROUND To explore the overall prevalence and serotype distribution of nasopharyngeal carriage of Streptococcus pneumoniae(S. pneumoniae) among healthy children. METHODS A search for pneumococcal nasopharyngeal carriage studies including children published up to July 31th, 2016 was conducted to describe carriage in China. The review also describes antibiotic resistance in and serotypes of ...
