Sequencing of Uniform Multifunctional Oligoesters via Random Chain Cleavages

Sequence-defined polymers have been the object of many fascinating studies that focus on their implementation in both material and life science applications. In parallel, iterative synthetic methodologies become more efficient, whereas structure elucidation these molecules is generally dependent MS/MS analysis. Here, we report an alternative, simple strategy for determination monomer order uniform oligo(thioether ester)s. This approach, which relies random cleavages ester units within macromolecular backbone via a basic treatment, enables swift characterization macromolecules without need MS/MS. Consequently, this method can be used decoding any information stored primary oligoesters by means ESI- or LC–MS. Finally, speculate range structurally diverse backbones could susceptible towards promptly expand library chemically sequenceable macromolecules.
