چکیده

The discharge of industrial effluent constituting high orthophosphates and organic pollutants in water receiving bodies compromises freshwater quality perpetuates eutrophication. In this study, an anaerobic–aerobic sequencing batch reactor (SBR) under activated sludge was investigated for chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal from brewery wastewater. Raw wastewater samples were collected on a daily basis period 4 weeks. findings the study are reported based overall efficiencies recording 69% 54% total COD retention time (SRT) 7 days hydraulic 18 h at mesophilic temperature conditions ±25 °C. Moreover, SBR system showed stability orthophosphate SRT ranging 3 to with variation volumetric loading rate 1.14 4.83 kg COD/m3.day. anaerobic reaction experimentally found be aerobic phase lasting 14 h. demonstrated feasibility rate.

Evaluation of sequencing batch reactor performance for petrochemical wastewater treatment

Sequencing batch reactor (SBR) technology has found many applications in industrial wastewater treatment in recent years. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal time for a cycle of the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and evaluate the performance of a SBR for petrochemical wastewater treatment in that cycle time. The reactor was operated with a suspended biomass configuration under ae...

Nitrogen Removal from Wastewater by a Sequencing Batch Reactor

Sequencing batch reactor (SBR) is one of several periodically operated, suspended-growth activated sludge system. It has an advantage for nitrogen removal which is difficult to remove with conventional system. This paper reviewed the nitrogen removal performance in SBR for several different industrial wastewaters and discussed the factors which may affect the treatment performance. Several modi...

Characteristics of MEG Removal from Industrial Wastewater by Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR)

Background: MEG is extensively applied in the sour gas industry as a hydrate inhibitor. It is toxic in oral drinking and serious injury or death may result from swallowing of pure ethylene glycol and poses a potential hazard to the environment through impact soil. Glycols are harmful to aquatic life. There is little information about the digestion of MEG in the aerobic reactor. Therefore, t...

Treatment of Slaughter House Wastewater in a Sequencing Batch Reactor: Performance Evaluation and Biodegradation Kinetics

Slaughterhouse wastewater contains diluted blood, protein, fat, and suspended solids, as a result the organic and nutrient concentration in this wastewater is vary high and the residues are partially solubilized, leading to a highly contaminating effect in riverbeds and other water bodies if the same is let off untreated. The performance of a laboratory-scale Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) has ...
