چکیده

This paper is aimed at performing a group of experiments to evaluate the sensitivity cumulus and microphysics schemes, as represented in numerical simulations Weather Research Forecasting (WRF) model. The convective schemes Kain-Fritsch (KF), Betts-Miller-Janjic (BMJ), Grell-Devenyi (GD), Grell-Freita (GF), Grell 3D (G3D), Tiedtke New (NT) were tested association with Kessler, Purdue Lin, WSM3, WSM5, WSM6, ETA (Ferrier) Goddard (totaling forty-nine experiments) order identify combination which best represents cumulative rainfall distribution Paraíba do Sul watershed. In performance experiments, they submitted statistical tests bias (BIAS), root mean square error (RMSE), absolute (MAE) Coefficient Determination (R2). Results show that combinations WSM5 GD; G3D; Perdue Lin G3D form four physical configurations statistically similar able predict well Paraiba It was noticed also scheme has greater weight than being GD3 performing.

Dissolved Black Carbon in the Headwaters-to-Ocean Continuum of Paraíba Do Sul River, Brazil

Rivers annually carry 25–28 Tg carbon in the form of pyrogenic dissolved organic matter (dissolved black carbon, DBC) into the ocean, which is equivalent to about 10% of the entire riverine land-ocean flux of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). The objective of this study was to identify the main processes behind the release and turnover of DBC on a riverine catchment scale. As a model system, we c...

DNA barcodes discriminate freshwater fishes from the Paraíba do Sul River Basin, São Paulo, Brazil.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Considering the promising use of DNA barcoding for species identification, the importance of the freshwater fish fauna of the Paraíba do Sul River Basin, and its advanced stage of degradation, the present study evaluated the effectiveness of DNA barcoding to identify the fish species in this basin. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 295 specimens representing 58 species belo...

Distribution and population structure of the fish Cyphocharax gilbert (Characiformes: Curimatidae) in the lower Paraíba do Sul River, Brazil.

The distribution and population structure of Cyphocharax gilbert in four areas of the lower Paraíba do Sul River and its major tributaries (22 degrees S, 43 degrees W) were analyzed between March 1989 and February 1990. The species was common throughout the area, preferring major rivers with high turbidity and sand-mud substrates and range of length and size of specimens found varied depending ...

Mercury contents in aquatic macrophytes from two reservoirs in the Paraíba do Sul: Guandú river system, SE Brazil.

This paper reports on a study to determine the Hg content in the five most abundant aquatic macrophyte species (Elodea densa, Sagittaria montevidensis, Salvinia auriculata, Pistia stratiotes and Eichhornia crassipes) in two artificial reservoirs flooded by water diverted from the Paraíba do Sul river, SE Brazil. The potential of these species for Hg accumulation and their role in Hg transport a...
