Semi-structured B-spline for blending two B-spline surfaces
Surface blending is a useful operation in geometric design for rounding sharp edges or corners. Meanwhile, NURBS has already become the de facto industrial standard in existing CAD/CAM systems. Therefore, it is required to study how to blend two B-spline surfaces. However, two arbitrary B-spline surfaces (called base surfaces) are hard to be blended with a B-spline surface (called blending surf...
متن کاملB-SPLINE METHOD FOR TWO-POINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS
In this work the collocation method based on quartic B-spline is developed and applied to two-point boundary value problem in ordinary diferential equations. The error analysis and convergence of presented method is discussed. The method illustrated by two test examples which verify that the presented method is applicable and considerable accurate.
متن کاملMultiresolution Triangular B-Spline Surfaces
We present multiresolution B-spline surfaces of arbitrary order defined over triangular domains. Unlike existing methods, the basic idea of our approach is to construct the triangular basis functions from their tensor product relatives in the spirit of box splines by projecting them onto the barycentric plane. The scheme works for splines of any order where the fundamental building blocks of th...
متن کاملB-spline control nets for developable surfaces
In this paper a linear algorithm is derived for constructing B-spline control nets for spline developable surfaces of arbitrary degree and number of pieces. Control vertices are written in terms of five free parameters related to the type of developable surface. Aumann’s algorithm for constructing Bézier developable surfaces is recovered as a particular case. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights res...
متن کاملOptimization of Geometrically Trimmed B-spline Surfaces
Unlike the visual trimming of B-spline surfaces, which hides unwanted portions in rendering, the geometric trimming approach provides a mathematically clean representation without redundancy. However, the process may lead to significant deviation from the corresponding portion on the original surface. Optimization is required to minimize approximation errors and obtain higher accuracy. In this ...
