Semi-Dilute Dumbbells: Solutions of the Fokker–Planck Equation

چکیده
Spring bead models are commonly used in the constitutive equations for polymer melts. One such model based on kinetic theory—the finitely extensible nonlinear elastic dumbbell incorporating a Peterlin closure approximation (FENE-P)—has previously been applied to study concentration-dependent anisotropy with inclusion of mean-field term account intermolecular forces dilute solutions background profiles weak shear and elongation. These investigations involved solution Fokker–Planck equation second moment. In this paper, we extend analysis include effects large elongation beyond Hookean regime. Further, is solved probability density function which permits computation any macroscopic variable, allowing direct comparison predictions molecular dynamics simulations. It was found that if concentration at equilibrium taken into account, FENE-P gives qualitatively correct predictions, although over-shoot extension infinitely case significantly underpredicted.

Theory of semi-dilute polymer solutions
2014 Some properties of semi-dilute poor and good solvent polymer solutions are examined within the framework of the field-theoretic formulism. The uncontrollable polydispersivity inherent in the field-theoretic formulism is shown to produce no errors if the quantity under investigation is molecular weight independent. A renormalization group cross-over calculation correct to order 03B5 is perf...
متن کاملThe Shear Rheology of Semi-dilute Dna Solutions
Dilute polymer solutions and polymer melts in shear flow have been extensively studied experimentally and theoretically. However, a systematic experimental study to understand the influence of concentration, temperature and molecular weight on the rheology of semidilute polymer solutions is currently lacking. Such knowledge is of crucial importance in a number of industrial and biological conte...
متن کاملThe Extensional Rheology of Semi- Dilute Dna Solutions
The rheological behaviour of polymer melts and dilute polymer solutions in elongational flow have been extensively examined through experiments and theoretical predictions. However, an experimental study to understand the extensional rheological properties of polymer solutions in the semi-dilute regime is currently lacking in terms of a systematic examination of the effects of concentration and...
متن کاملRheology of Semi-dilute Solutions of Calf-thymus DNA
We study the rheology of semi-dilute solutions of the sodium salt of calf-thymus DNA in the linear and nonlinear regimes. The frequency response data can be fitted very well to the hybrid model with two dominant relaxation times τ0 and τ1. The ratio (τ0=τ1) 5 is seen to be fairly constant on changing the temperature from 20 to 30C. The shear rate dependence of viscosity can be fitted to the Car...
متن کاملSlow Modes in Semi-dilute Solutions of Polynucleotides
2014 Our experimental studies of quasi-elastic light scattering by semi-dilute solutions of polyadenilic acid show the simultaneous existence of rapid modes similar to those observed with flexible chains, and of slow modes the existence of which is due to polynucleotide chain dynamics. The concentration dependence of diffusion coefficients gives some indications about the origin of these modes....
