Self-Healing Performance of Smart Polymeric Coatings Modified with Tung Oil and Linalyl Acetate

This work focuses on the synthesis and characterization of polymeric smart self-healing coatings. A comparison structural, thermal, properties two different coatings comprising distinct agents (tung oil linalyl acetate) is studied to elucidate role in corrosion protection. Towards this direction, urea-formaldehyde microcapsules (UFMCs) loaded with tung (TMMCs) acetate (LMMCs) were synthesized using in-situ polymerization method. The both LMMCs TMMCs under identical experimental conditions (900 rpm, 55 °C) has resulted a similar average particle size range (63–125 µm). developed by reinforcing matrix separately fixed amount (3 wt.% 5 wt.%), wt.%) referred as LMCOATs TMCOATs, respectively. development (LMCOATs TMCOATs) contributes achieving decent thermal stability up 450 °C. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis indicates that resistance increases increasing concentration (TMMCs, LMMCs) epoxy reaching ~1 G?. As comparison, containing demonstrate best barrier than other can be considered for many potential applications.
