چکیده
A prototype self-centering prestressedconcrete (SCPC) bridge pier andconventional reinforced concrete (RC) with similar backbone curves are designed and modeled. The objective of this study is to investigate the seismic performance SCPC considering effect vertical earthquake ground motions. Under a severe motion, RC damage much greater than pier. shows great capability in reducing residual drift at top structure, therefore, probability survival increased. In study, external aluminum bars were used reduce energy impacts on structure. addition, averages maximum drifts piers under set 20 motion records impact different vertical-to-horizontal peak acceleration ratios response presented. results compared case horizontal-only excitations, clarify Hence, designers can find good solutions for structures earthquakes resistance.

self-centering pier (scp) has been viewed as a remarkable accomplishment which is able to sustain major lateral loading with reduced structure damage in seismic engineering. stiffness deterioration observed in experiment is vital for the seismic performance of self-centering concrete pier. in this contribution, the associated stiffness deterioration with respect to the structural damage is mode...
متن کاملParametric Study of Continuous Concrete Beam Prestressed with External Tendon
This paper presents the results of a parametric study of the flexural behavior of continuous concrete members prestressed with external tendons. The behavior at ultimate limit states is evaluated. A nonlinear analysis model, based on the three dimensional finite element method, ANSYS computer program (10.0) was used. The nonlinear material and geometrical analysis were adopted. The results obta...
متن کاملAutogenous Shrinkage of Prestressed Self-Consolidating Concrete
Shrinkage can be critical factor for the design of structural members due to the length changes by the timedependent deformation. Given the high fluidity and different mixture proportions of SCC, the shrinkage of such concrete can differ from those of conventional concrete or HPC of normal consistency. Proper estimate of autogenous shrinkage of self-consolidating concrete (SCC) can provide engi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Diaphragms in Prestressed Concrete
16. Abstract Four scale microconcrete model bridges were tested. Experimental variables included span, skew angle, stiffness, location and number of diaphragms. Service load level behavior was studied under static, cyclic and impact loads with successive removal of diaphragms. Behavior at overload and ultimate load conditions was documented from ultimate static and impact load tests. Characteri...
