Self-assessment is about more than self: the enabling role of feedback literacy

Both student feedback literacy and self-assessment are crucial for developing self-regulated lifelong learning in higher education. The relationship between these two concepts is important but as yet understudied. Using to develop students’ has been mentioned relevant literature, how can facilitate practice remains unclear. purpose of this conceptual article twofold. First, we articulate the interplay based on a reframing integration concepts. Secondly, unfold process into three steps: (1) determining applying assessment criteria, (2) self-reflection, (3) judgement calibration. For each step, propose pedagogical principle recommend practices that meaningful self-assessment. Implications teaching both face-to-face online environments discussed.
