Self-applied electrode set provides a clinically feasible solution enabling EEG recording in home sleep apnea testing

چکیده

Home sleep apnea testing (HSAT) without electroencephalography (EEG) recordings is increasingly used as an alternative to in-laboratory polysomnography for the diagnosis of obstructive (OSA). However, EEG, electrooculography (EOG), and chin electromyography (EMG) recordings, OSA severity may be significantly underestimated. Although several ambulatory EEG systems have been recently introduced, no patient-applied including EOG, EMG suitable home are currently in clinical use. We developed pre-clinically tested a self-applied electrode set (AES), consisting frontal EMG, subjects with possible bruxism. Now, this feasibility study, we investigated signal scorability usability AES self-administered assessment approach supplementing conventional HSAT device. also how diagnostic parameters changed when utilizing AES. Thirty-eight patients (61 % male, 25-78 years) suspicion conducted single-night, portable device (Nox A1, Nox Medical, Reykjavik, Iceland) supplemented Only one recording failed. The use signals data analysis affected median AHI, increasing it from 9.4 12.7 events/h (p<0.001) compared HSAT. Also, eight patients, class worse. Perceived ease was well line that previously found among healthy volunteers. These results suggest provides easy, clinically feasible solution record part

A dry electrode for EEG recording.

This paper describes the design, fabrication and testing of a prototype dry surface electrode for EEG signal recording. The new dry electrode has the advantages of no need for skin preparation or conductive paste, potential for reduced sensitivity to motion artifacts and an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio. The electrode's sensing element is a 3 mm stainless steel disk which has a 2000 A (200 nm)...

EEG Analysis Applied to Sleep

The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a complex signal and an important brain state indicator (e.g. waking, sleep, seizure). Modern brain research is intimately linked to the feasibility to record the EEG and to its quantitative analysis. EEG spectral analysis (decomposing a signal into its constituent frequency components) is an important method to investigate brain activity. Basic principals of s...
