Selective Furfuryl Alcohol Production from Furfural via Bio-Electrocatalysis

چکیده

The catalytic reduction of renewable furfural into furfuryl alcohol for various applications is in the ascendant. Nonetheless, conventional chemo-catalysis hydrogenation always suffers from poor selectivity, harsh conditions, and expensive catalysts. Herein, to overcome serious technical barriers production, an alternative bio-electrocatalytic system was established under mild neutral where dissolved cofactor (NADH) dehydrogenase (ADH) participated a tandem reaction driven by electron novel Rh (III) complex fixed cathode. Under optimized 81.5% selectivity can be realized at −0.43 V vs. RHE. This contribution presents ‘green’ promising route valorization other biomass compounds.
