چکیده
Objectives We retrospectively evaluated a chart review of 3,525 patients for any acute disturbance. A total 1,504 with vestibular syndrome (AVS) received an instrumental assessment within 72 h from the onset symptoms using simultaneously combination ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMPs), cervical (cVEMPs), video head-impulse test (vHIT), and subjective visual vertical (SVV) were included in this study. Materials methods 41 AVS that showed normal horizontal canal function tested vHIT, cVEMP function, unilaterally reduced or absent oVEMP n10, altered SVV enrolled. Results found although these referred vertigo presented spontaneous nystagmus, they physiological values vHIT saccular as shown by symmetrical cVEMPs. Conclusion Our findings support hypothesis percentage during could present selective utricular macula dysfunction.

Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune systemic disease. Most common autoimmune diseases are multisystem disorders that may also present with otological manifestations, and autoimmune inner ear disease accompanied by vestibular dysfunction. This study aimed to compare the vestibular function between RA patients and normal subjects using cervical vestibular evoked myogenic...
متن کاملOcular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) to test utricular function: neural and oculomotor evidence
A new test for utricular function has recently been introduced and validated, namely the ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP), which refers to the myogenic potentials recorded by surface EMG electrodes beneath both eyes in response to bone conducted vibration (BCV) of the head or air conducted sound (ACS). The oVEMP test differs from another vestibular-evoked myogenic potential r...
متن کاملOcular Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials
Introduction Diagnostic testing of the vestibular system is an essential component of treating patients with balance dysfunction. Until recently, testing methods primarily evaluated the integrity of the horizontal semicircular canal, which is only a portion of the vestibular system. Recent advances in technology have afforded clinicians the ability to assess otolith function through vestibular ...

متن کاملThe Effect of Cognitive Tasks on the Ocular Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials in Healthy People
Introduction: The majority of the daily life activities involve the concurrent performance of simultaneously challenging motor and cognitive activities, such as talking while walking, which requires the vestibular system for balance. Functional balance allows the brain to interpret and integrate the sensory information from our physical and social environment. This study aimed to investig...
