Seismic isolation technology for prestressed segmental precast piers

Prestressed segmental precast (PC) piers, with insufficient energy dissipation capacity, are seldomly adopted on bridges in seismic areas. To improve the performance of PC this study proposes a functional separation isolation device (FSID), serving as supplementary replaceable device. Full-scale field load tests real-world pier were carried out to qualify type piers. Based results and numerical analysis, an optimal design FSID was achieved. The show that has multi-stage statuses reaction models. By optimizing parameters, can enable piers satisfy required under various levels earthquakes. Therefore, performance-based be achieved using FSID.
