Seismic Behavior Evaluation of URM Building in Rural Area

Approximately 30% of Turkey's population lives in rural areas and they are seated structures, which called unreinforced masonry building (URM). These types buildings consist mudbrick structures with wooden carcasses, masonry-adobe supports, brick briquette supported by reinforced concrete lintels. The construction is easy low cost because the availability materials such as masonry, so it frequently preferred. However, these buildings, especially poorly constructed many respects, have performed very badly recent earthquakes, causing loss life property. For this reason, was once again seen that demand for improvement or strengthening important terms saving property, seismic research evaluation necessary purpose. İn study, earthquake behavior structure a flexible diaphragm evaluated using SAP200 Finite element program. Two were modeled plain bond beams. Displacement, Base shear, Stress data analysis results obtained compared two models.
