چکیده
This paper presents an experimental approach to study the phenomena of segregating water and gravel using a large ball mill device that reproduces segregation under debris flow. First, experiment was conducted in various conditions: mixing, bed velocity, laid roughness. The occurrence conditions mixing are categorized compared with each other and/or without roughness on bed. Furthermore, movements after observed investigate mechanism.

Equivalent roughness of gravel-bed rivers
The relation between the equivalent roughness and different grain size percentiles of the sediment in gravel-bed rivers was determined under the hypothesis that the vertical distribution of the flow velocity follows a logarithmic law. A set of 954 data points was selected from rivers with gravel size sediment or larger, with a non-sinuous alignment and free of vegetation or obstacles. According...
متن کاملSurface Roughness Prediction Modeling for AISI 4340 after Ball End Mill Operation using Artificial Intelligence
Now a days a manufacturing system is oriented towards higher production rate, quality, and reduced cost. Surface roughness is an index for determining the quality of machined products and is influenced by the cutting parameters. In die manufacturing industries Surface roughness of dies are considered as a vital quality characteristic. For the complex shapes of a die, three dimensional machining...
متن کاملEffects of hydraulic roughness on surface textures of gravel-bed rivers
Field studies of forest gravel-bed rivers in northwestern Washington and southeastern Alaska demonstrate that bed-surface grain size is responsive to hydraulic roughness caused by bank irregularities, bars, and wood debris. We evaluate textural response by comparing reach-average median grain size (D50) to that predicted from the total bank-full boundary shear stress (t0bf), representing a hypo...
متن کاملExploring accuracy of statistical characterization of gravel beds using Kinect device in the laboratory scale
Mountainous river beds-generally consist of gravel particles that the precise description of such bed is not only important hydraulically, but also it has great environmental significance. The accurate estimation of bed roughness gives us valuable information to make reliable hydraulic models of flow in river with rigorous bed form. This study discuses about the accuracy of the Kinect device in...
متن کاملNonlinearity and complexity in gravel bed dynamics
The dynamics of river bed evolution are known to be notoriously complex affected by near-bed turbulence, the collective motion of clusters of particles of different sizes, and the formation of bedforms and other large-scale features. In this paper, we present the results of a study aiming to quantify the inherent nonlinearity and complexity in gravel bed dynamics. The data analyzed are bed elev...
