Seebeck Effect of Dirac Electrons

چکیده
We investigate the Seebeck effect in a three-dimensional Dirac electron system based on linear response theory and Luttinger’s gravitational potential. The coefficient S is defined by = L12/L11T, where T temperature, L11 L12 are longitudinal coefficients of charge current to electric field temperature gradient, respectively; conductivity thermoelectric conductivity. consider randomly-distributed impurity potentials as source momentum relaxation electrons microscopically calculate rate vertex corrections due impurities. It confirmed that related through Mott’s formula low temperatures when chemical potential lies above gap (|μ| > Δ), irrespective dispersion unconventional energy dependence lifetime electrons. Alternatively, bandgap < functions similar conventional semiconductors; its dependences potential, μ, T, partially captured ∝ (Δ − μ)/kBT for μ 0. takes relatively large value |S| \( \simeq \) 1.7 mV/K at 4.3 K Δ 8 meV assuming doped bismuth.

Bragg scattering of free electrons using the Kapitza-Dirac effect.
Bragg scattering has been observed for free electrons using a standing wave of light. Both the rocking curve and the angular electron distribution have been measured. The results of a numerical simulation to the Schrödinger equation are consistent with our experimental data. Unlike the diffraction regime which uses thin crystals, the Bragg regime requires the use of thick crystals. We point out...
متن کامل0 QED 2 + 1 : Compton effect on Dirac - Landau electrons
Planar Quantum Electrodynamics is developed when charged fermions are under the influence of a constant and homogeneous external magnetic field. We compute the cross-length for the scattering of optical/ultraviolet photons by Dirac-Landau electrons.

We report on the observation of the spin Seebeck effect in antiferromagnetic MnF_{2}. A device scale on-chip heater is deposited on a bilayer of MnF_{2} (110) (30 nm)/Pt (4 nm) grown by molecular beam epitaxy on a MgF_{2} (110) substrate. Using Pt as a spin detector layer, it is possible to measure the thermally generated spin current from MnF_{2} through the inverse spin Hall effect. The low ...
متن کاملColossal Seebeck effect enhanced by quasi-ballistic phonons dragging massive electrons in FeSb2
Phonon transport is an essential property of thermoelectric materials. Although the phonon carries heat, which reduces the thermoelectric efficiency, it contributes positively to the Seebeck coefficient S through the phonon-drag effect, as typified by the high-purity semiconductors, which show fairly large S at cryogenic temperatures. Although such a large S is attractive in terms of Peltier co...
متن کاملTheory of Dirac Electrons in Organic Conductors
The dynamical property of electrons with the tilted Dirac cone was examined using the tilted Weyl equation. The polarization function exhibits cusps and nonmonotonic structures by varying both the frequency and the momentum. A pair of tilted Dirac cones exhibits a new plasmon for the intermediate magnitude of momentum owing to the combined effects of two tilted cones. Dirac electrons with the z...
