Sedimentation Rate of Dunaliella salina in Dark Conditions

Microalgae are a source of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Thus, they can be considered as raw material to transition from current fossil fuel-based refineries biorefineries. harvesting is major challenge in biomass production. There several techniques, but the majority them either expensive or not effective. The method that we propose sedimentation-induced by light blockage, taking advantage motility characteristics certain microalgae. In this research, halophilic microalgae Dunaliella salina was selected. Experiments were conducted under dark conditions compare sedimentation rates. Sedimentation behavior measured collecting data on optical density cell count both conditions. results showed that, conditions, middle flask decreased 1 × 106 cell/mL 5 104 after 50 days. Under took less than 10 days for complete settlement. Leaving may constitute promising harvest provides high recovery rate requires low energy.
