Sedimentation Process of TiO2 Nanoparticles in Aqueous Solution

TiO2 nanoparticles, a semiconductor photocatalyst is widely used in various applications especially for water treatment. The common problems the application are separating nanoparticles from body and recovering it to be reused. This research was conducted investigate aggregation sedimentation properties of via chemical addition. experiment carried out 5 hours by varying pH, ionic strength, addition organic matter such as rhodamine B, methylene orange, humic acid. results indicate that pH strength greatly affect process. Sedimentation can formed properly when solution at 1 14, this happens because close isoelectric point. Meanwhile, with concentration 0.1 M gave most optimal sedimentation. In presence appropriate concentration, thickness electrical double layer particles reduced so attractive force increases occur. matter, acid did not significantly formation sedimentation.Keywords: titanium dioxide, sedimentation, point, treatment
