چکیده
Background The National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science TechnologyâNational Institute of Sciences (QSTâNIRS) has continuously investigated the undesired radiation exposure in ion beam radiotherapy mainly carbon-ion (CIRT). This review introduces our investigations on secondary neutron dose CIRT with broad scanning methods. Materials Methods ambient equivalents are evaluated based rem meter (WENDI-II) measurements. out-of-field organ doses assuming prostate cancer pediatric brain tumor treatments also through Monte Carlo simulation. evaluation includes contributions from neutrons charged particles. Results Discussion measurements at a 90° angle to axis method show that per treatment is lower than proton (PRT). For energy technique, PRT. Moreover, decreased distance target less bound intensity-modulated (IMRT) shown AAPM TG-158 (American Association Physicists Medicine Task Group). Conclusion important viewpoint risk after radiotherapy. Secondary major source CIRT, especially distant area volume. However, level similar or PRT IMRT, even if all species included evaluation. Assessment of secondary neutron dose due to dental restorations in head and neck radiation therapy
Introduction: One of scientific concern is increasing of unwanted neutron dose to the patient, in head and neck radiation therapy due to the presence of some isotopes in dental restorations and head of medical linac. The aim of this study is to measure the equivalent dose of thermal and fast neutron due to head of Siemens Primus Linac and a healthy tooth, Amalgam, Ni-Cr alloy a...
متن کاملNeutron Contamination Unexpected Dose in Varian LINAC
Introduction: Neutron contamination is very harmful for the patients receiving radiation therapy due to the high relative biological effect of neutrons. Medical linear accelerators head are made up of materials with high atomic numbers, and High-energy photons interaction with heavy materials can produce neutron contamination. In this study, neutron equivalent dose, neutron spe...
متن کاملFast Neutron Dose Mapping in a Linac Radiotherapy Facility
CR-39 plastic detectors were used for fast neutron dose mapping in the radiotherapy facility at King AbdulAziz University Hospital (KAUH). Detectors were calibrated using a Cf neutron source and a neutron dosimeter. After exposure chemical etching was performed using 6N NaOH solution at 70 C. Tracks were counted using an optical microscope and the number of tracks/cm was converted to a neutron ...
متن کاملIntrafractional dose variation and beam configuration in carbon ion radiotherapy for esophageal cancer
BACKGROUND In carbon ion radiotherapy (CIR) for esophageal cancer, organ and target motion is a major challenge for treatment planning due to potential range deviations. This study intends to analyze the impact of intrafractional variations on dosimetric parameters and to identify favourable settings for robust treatment plans. METHODS We contoured esophageal boost volumes in different organ ...
متن کاملSU-D-BRB-02: Investigations of Secondary Ion Distributions in Carbon Ion Therapy Using the Timepix Detector.
PURPOSE Due to the high conformity of carbon ion therapy, unpredictable changes in the patient's geometry or deviations from the planned beam properties can result in changes of the dose distribution. PET has been used successfully to monitor the actual dose distribution in the patient. However, it suffers from biological washout processes and low detection efficiency. The purpose of this contr...
