چکیده
Studies on oxidative stress physiology molluscs to monitor the aquatic environment, influenced by pollutants and stressors are very limited in general Indian apple snails, P. globosa particular. The main focus of present study was establish baseline data a redox regulatory system sampled across subcontinent. Snails were from different zones India three seasons (rainy, summer winter) (levels antioxidant enzyme activities small molecules) indicator (lipid peroxidation) analyzed. observed elevated lipid peroxidation level season accompanied with pH, salinity temperature indicates induction stress. In season, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) glutathione reductase (GR) enzymes augmented, whereas free -SH group peroxidase (GPx) glutathione-S-transferase (GST) found be increased. Similarly, correlation analysis between parameters revealed that SOD, CAT GR pH as well salinity, strongly correlated temperature. Collectively, our indicate use model organism access freshwater environment determining status this animal.

Storage excretion in the Indian apple snail, Pila globosa (Swainson), during aestivation.
Uric acid accumulates in several tissues of the Indian apple snail, P. globosa, during aestivation. This accumulation is particularly high in the foot muscle and reproductive organs. Since the kidney, a tiny organ in the snail, has only a limited capacity to store uric acid, extrarenal tissues are used as storage depots of uric acid during aestivation. It is suggested that the aestivating snail...

The physico-chemical characteristics, lipids, protein, fat, moisture and ash of P. globosa and L.luteola were studied. The percentage of oil content found were 2.30 ± 0.29 and 1.61 ± 0.12 in meat of P. globosa and L. luteola. The protein and fat content of P. globosa were 33.81% and 1.80% whereas 22.71% and 1.49% in L. luteola. The moisture content were 75.31% and 78.96% in P. globosa and L. lu...
