چکیده
I investigated the seasonal testicular histology and acystic lobular spermatogenesis in Western Lesser Siren, Siren intermedia nettingi, from periodic sampling of this salamander over a span 21 yr (1994-2015) northeastern Arkansas. My results include following general findings: 1) largest lobules occurred primarily January-February during spermiogenesis spermatozoa maturation; 2) regression spermatogenic cell recrudescence were underway by late March; 3) proliferation secondary spermatogonia was prominent May; 4) transformation into primary spermatocytes mid-July, these cells became larger diameter through increased nuclear size being heavy laden with lipid droplets, 5) diameters gradually expansion luminal open space July-August, 6) continued to increase October-December lumina containing numerous spermatocytes. Specifically, my objective part long-term study present histologically, for first time, annual cycle species along an explanation unique cellular complexities spermatogenesis, process which sirenid shares another genus (Pseudobranchus) within family Sirenidae. No other vertebrates any kind possess type spermatogenesis.

The Siren Organ
Sirens evoke images of alarm, public service, war, and forthcoming air raid. Outside of the music of Edgard Varése ([8], [9]), sirens have rarely been framed as musical instruments. By connecting air hoses to spinning disks with evenly-spaced perforations, the siren timbre is translated musically. Polyphony gives our instrument an organ-like personality: keys are mapped to different frequencies...

In many areas of science, scientists need to find distinct common characterizations of the same objects and, vice versa, to identify sets of objects that admit multiple shared descriptions. For example, in biology, an important task is to identify the bioclimatic constraints that allow some species to survive, that is, to describe geographical regions both in terms of the fauna that inhabits th...

Hippocrates recognized that determining a patient’s prognosis is one of physicians’ most important responsibilities.1 Although research on prognosis has been outpaced by that on etiology and therapy, scientists have made great strides in characterizing the risk factors for death across all areas of medicine.2 However, this deeper understanding of prognosis comes at the expense of simplicity; in...
