Seasonal Changes of Estuarine Gravitational Circulation: Response to the Annual Temperature Change

چکیده
Estuarine circulation is a vertical that develops along the salinity gradient in estuaries and nearshore coastal waters. Fresher, therefore less-dense, water flows out of estuary surface layer, while deeper inflow brings from open sea into estuary. This study uses 7 years situ current measurements hydrographic surveys to verify this has two modes: deep intrudes seabed, shallow-inflow penetrates subsurface layer. These modes show seasonal variability, i.e., deep-inflow mode occupies almost all winter season, whereas dominates during summer. change may play key role oxygen carbon dioxide (CO2) dynamics When transition deep- begins spring, cold mass forms on seabed upper isolated heating sources oxygenated water; consequently, becomes hypoxic accumulates both inorganic nutrients CO2 spring shallow- occurs, CO2, which trapped bottom-water, emitted atmosphere. The mechanism causes estuarine driven by spatial inhomogeneity or cooling lower generates horizontal density highlights importance temperature dynamics, not been extensively studied previously.

Changes in the Seasonal Cycle of Temperature and Atmospheric Circulation
The vast majority of variability in the instrumental surface temperature record is at annual frequencies. Systematic changes in the yearly Fourier component of surface temperature have been observed since the midtwentieth century, including a shift toward earlier seasonal transitions over land. Here it is shown that the variability in the amplitude and phase of the annual cycle of surface tempe...

متن کاملTemperature response of Earth to the annual solar irradiance cycle
We directly determine the sensitivity and time delay of Earth’s surface temperature response to annual solar irradiance variations from 60 years of data. A two-layer energy balance model is developed to interpret the results. Explaining both the resulting low sensitivity and time delay of 1–2 months requires negative feedback. 2004 Elsevier B.V.
