Searching for anomalous microwave emission in nearby galaxies. K-band observations with the Sardinia Radio Telescope

چکیده

We observed four nearby spiral galaxies (NGC 3627, NGC 4254, 4736 and 5055) in the K band with 64-m Sardinia Radio Telescope, aim of detecting Anomalous Microwave Emission (AME), a radiation component presumably due to spinning dust grains, so far Milky Way handful other only (most notably, M 31). mapped at 18.6 24.6 GHz studied their global photometry together radio-continuum data from literature, order find AME as emission excess synchrotron thermal components. upper limits for AME. These non-detections, are nevertheless consistent average emissivity few detections: it is $\epsilon^\mathrm{AME}_{\mathrm{30~GHz}} = 2.4\pm0.4 \times 10^{-2}$ MJy sr$^{-1}$ (M$_\odot$ pc$^{-2}$)$^{-1}$ units surface density (equivalently, $1.4\pm0.2 10^{-18}$ Jy (H cm$^{-2}$)$^{-1}$ H column density). finally suggest search quiescent spirals relatively low radio luminosity, such M~31.

Deep low-frequency observations with the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope: a search for relic radio emission

We present deep multifrequency observations using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope at 153, 244, 610 and 1260 MHz of a field centered on J0916+6348, to search for evidence of fossil radio lobes which could be due to an earlier cycle of episodic activity of the parent galaxy, as well as halos and relics in clusters of galaxies. We do not find any unambiguous evidence of episodic activity in a ...

The K-band luminosity function of nearby field galaxies

We present a measurement of the K-band luminosity function (LF) of field galaxies obtained from near-infrared imaging of a sample of 345 galaxies selected from the Stromlo-APM Redshift Survey. The LF is reasonably well fitted over the 10-mag range 226 < MK < 216 by a Schechter function with parameters a ˆ 21:16 ^ 0:19; M* ˆ 223:58 ^ 0:42 and f* ˆ 0:012 ^ 0:008 Mpc, assuming a Hubble constant of...

Micron Observations of Nearby 3 Crr Radio Galaxies

We present submillimeter continuum observations at 870 microns of the cores of low redshift 3CRR radio galaxies, observed at the Heinrich Hertz Submillimeter Telescope. The cores are nearly flat spectrum between the radio and submillimeter which implies that the submillimeter continuum is likely to be synchrotron emission and not thermal emission from dust. The emitted power from nuclei detecte...

Searching for Anomalous Longitudinal Profiles with the FRAM Telescope

The study of anomalous longitudinal profiles of extensive air showers presents an interesting opportunity to gain additional insight about the character of hadronic interactions at the highest energies. Moreover, the presence of such profiles would represent direct evidence of a light component in the primary cosmic rays of a given energy, independently of hadronic interaction models. The ratio...

Observations of free–free and anomalous microwave emission from LDN 1622 with the 100 m Green Bank Telescope

LDN 1622 has previously been identified as a possible strong source of dust-correlated anomalous microwave emission (AME). Previous observations were limited by resolution meaning that the radio emission could not be compared with current generation high-resolution infrared data from Herschel, Spitzer or Wide-field Infrared Sky Explorer. This paper presents arcminute resolution mapping observat...
