چکیده

Abstract. Sea-level variations in coastal areas can differ significantly from those the nearby open ocean. Monitoring sea-level is therefore crucial to understand how climate variability affect densely populated regions of globe. In this paper, we study along coast Norway by means situ records, satellite altimetry data, and a network eight hydrographic stations over period spanning 16 years (from 2003 2018). At first, evaluate performance ALES-reprocessed dataset (1 Hz posting rate) comparing it with anomaly tide gauges range timescales, which include long-term trend, annual cycle, detrended deseasoned anomaly. We find that conventional products perform similarly Norwegian coast. However, agreement terms trends on average 6 % better when use ALES data. later assess steric contribution sea level While longer time series are necessary trends, cycle more affected temperature than salinity both give comparable entire A conclusion our poorly covered benefit satellite-based approach monitor change variability.

Monitoring Sea Level in the Coastal Zone with Satellite Altimetry and Tide Gauges

We examine the issue of sustained measurements of sea level in the coastal zone, first by summarizing the long-term observations from tide gauges, then showing how those are now complemented by improved satellite altimetry products in the coastal ocean. We present some of the progresses in coastal altimetry, both from dedicated reprocessing of the radar waveforms and from the development of imp...

Sea Level Changes Along Global Coasts from Satellite Altimetry, GPS and Tide Gauge

The average global sea level was rising through the 20th century as a result of global warming [8, 9, 26]. The Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimated that between 1901 and 2010, the mean sea level rate 1.7±0.2 mm/yr and increased to 3.2±0.4 mm/yr between 1993 and 2010, and projected that in 2100 the largest increase in global average sea level ...

Vertical Motion determined using Satellite Altimetry and tide Gauges

A robust method to estimate vertical crustal motions by combining geocentric sea level measurements from decadal (1992 2003) TOPEX/POSEIDON satellite altimetry and long-term (> 40 years) relative sea level records from tide gauges using a novel Gauss-Markov stochastic adjustment model is presented. These results represent an improvement over a prior study (Kuo et al. 2004) in Fennoscandia, wher...

Sea Level Determination Experiences at Cape of Begur Using Altimetry and Tide Gauges

Three Begur Cape experiences on radar altimeter calibration and marine geoid mapping made on 1999, 2000 and 2002 are overviewed. The marine geoid has been used to relate the coastal tide gauge data from l’Estartit harbour to off-shore altimetric data. The necessity to validate and calibrate the satellite’s altimeter due to increasing needs in accuracy and long term integrity implies establishin...

Arctic sea surface height variability and change from satellite radar altimetry and GRACE, 20032014

Arctic sea surface height (SSH) is poorly observed by radar altimeters due to the poor coverage of the polar oceans provided by conventional altimeter missions and because large areas are perpetually covered by sea ice, requiring specialized data processing. We utilize SSH estimates from both the icecovered and ice-free ocean to present monthly estimates of Arctic Dynamic Ocean Topography (DOT)...
