Screening for intellectual disability in autistic people: A brief report

There is high co-occurrence between intellectual disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It important to identify people who have both conditions for clinical research reasons. This study explored if the Child Adolescent Intellectual Disability Screening Questionnaire (CAIDS-Q) Learning (LDSQ) could accurately in autistic children adults respectively. Pre-existing CAIDS-Q data 40 LDSQ 27 were used. The participants classified as likely an or not based on age-appropriate cut-off score relevant screening tools. was compared with their diagnosis of disability. sensitivity, specificity, positive negative predictive values, 93.1 %, 88.5 90 % 92 corresponding figures 75 95.6 %. values broadly consistent found previous research. sensitivity PPV LDSQ, somewhat lower. specificity measures above threshold levels that are generally considered be acceptable a developmental tool. results suggest may appropriate screen people.
