چکیده
MOG antibody disorder presenting as a combined central and peripheral demyelination (CCPD) is uncommon. CCPD has been associated with other primary syndromes such multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica or chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. Here, the authors describe diagnosis management of 21-year-old female historically sequential plaques in her right thalamus, cervical cord, left optic nerve electrophysiology suggestive bilateral ulnar demyelination.

Combined Central and Peripheral Demyelination.
Demyelinating disorders are very common, but remains isolated to the part of nervous system they involve. However, infrequently, combined involvement of central and peripheral nervous system with demyelinating process have been described. We report one such rare case, with possible theories of common etiological basis. We present a middle aged male patient with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinatin...

OBJECTIVES We aimed to identify the target antigens for combined central and peripheral demyelination (CCPD). METHODS We screened target antigens by immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting using peripheral nerve tissues to identify target antigens recognized by serum antibodies from selected CCPD and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) cases. We then measured the ...

Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is characterized by optic neuritis or transverse myelitis with anti-aquaporin 4 (AQP4) antibodies (1). We herein present the case of a patient with NMOSD who also was affected with peripheral neuropathy. A 58-year-old woman developed gait disturbance and sensory impairment in the lower limbs. She exhibited longitudinally extensive transverse myelit...

Extensive research over the last decades basically failed to identify a common cause of noninfectious inflammatory central nervous system (CNS) demyelinating disease. To a great extent, this may reflect that the group of inflammatory CNS demyelinating disorders likely contains multiple pathogenetically distinct disease entities. Indeed, the greatest success so far in deciphering the pathogenesi...
متن کاملChemokines and peripheral nerve demyelination.
It has been speculated that beta-chemokines play a pivotal role in the development of peripheral nervous system (PNS) disorders characterized by mononuclear cell infiltration. In experimental allergic neuritis (EAN), an animal model for human Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) with mononuclear cell infiltration, we found by quantitative PCR that beta-chemokine messages were upregulated during the ac...
