چکیده

Extreme precipitation and flooding often lead to human economic losses. However, the high-resolution nationwide exposure data are scarce. Availability of all-weather space-borne SAR satellite can potentially improve ability generate flood map extent globally. In Iran, is a major concern, given socioeconomic vulnerabilities increased likelihood climate extremes. Iran experienced extreme during January March 2019, attributed significant October 2018 which well above long-term averages for 1999–2019. Using Pettitt Mann Kendall tests, records were identified by decreasing increasing trends in north south, respectively. Utilizing 673 Sentinel-1 intensity images, we applied fast-marching algorithm image segmentation combination with Bayesian framework obtain probabilistic maps. We found, 22, 9, 15 states January, February, March, respectively, that covered >15% their area high flooded percent northwestern southeastern region. estimated >15, >11.32, >11.33 million people exposed floods Our datasets inform models management efforts under extremes changing land use cover.

Determination of flood-prone areas using Sentinel-1 Radar images (Case study: Flood on March 2019, Kashkan River, Lorestan Province) Introduction Although natural hazards occur in all parts of the world, their incidence is higher in Asia than in any other part of the world. Natural phenomena are considered as natural hazards when they cause damage or financial losses to human beings. Iran ...

Uncertainty in Calibrating Flood Propagation Models with Flood Boundaries Derived from Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery

An instantaneous synthetic aperture radar (SAR) derived flood extent map helps retrieving the distributed conveyance parameters in one-dimensional flood routing models. These models are generally calibrated based on the sole use of ground data. This research aims to use earth observation (EO) data in order to establish a significant parameter retrieval strategy, providing an alternative model c...

Study of subsidence of Abarkooh plain of Yazd using the Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry method

Abstract The population growth, the development of cities, industry, agriculture, and improper use of resources especially non-renewable resources have led human beings to face the danger of running out of resources. In some cases, in addition to the above, irreversible environmental and geological hazards have occurred due to the overdrawn of resources. Over extraction of groundwater resourc...
