School Safety

The purpose of our collaborative research is to explore effective strategies ensure student safety in elementary schools. Student includes both physical safety, prevention violence, abuse, or bullying (DPHCS, n.d.); and psychological establishing well-being, belonging classrooms support for emotional mental health. Findings suggest misunderstandings, microaggressions, racism, violence directly undermine feelings (Cohen, 2021), with a wide range school leaving students vulnerable negative learning environment an adverse impact on growth (NASP, 2023). Elementary teachers should collaborate principals, boards, parents fostering positive behavioural the continuous Bill 13 Accepting Schools Act (DPCDSB, 2012). Further this topic could enact new regulations within schools, emphasis better implementation protocols. Our recommendations will educators as they recognize ineffectiveness punitive reinforcement, importance necessary precautions getting involved protecting community.
