چکیده

This study was carried out to determine the effects of acetic acid, hot water, and cold sand stratification scarification at different periods on seed germination carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) in Salah Alden province. The seeds were collected from Kirkuk province area September 2016. Carob stratified not treated by soaking glacial acid for 20, 40, 60, 120 min. lab temperature (25oC). Hot water (100oC) also used Experimental design Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replicates, 10 per each treatment replicate results compared non-treated seeds. After they washed thoroughly sowed black polyethylene grow bags. soil loamy added organic matter. 7 months, data recorded percent growth features including plant height, leaf area, total chlorophyll, root length, fresh dry weight vegetative parts, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium percentages plant. showed that 60 minutes achieved highest (96.67%), 12.86 cm2, (0.14 gm.), nitrogen 5.52%. 40 gave parts 18.6 gm. (7.05 gm.). phosphorous (0.49% 2.07% respectively).

Effects of Various Treatments on Seed Germination and Growth of Carob (ceratonia Siliqua L.)

In this study, Ceratonia siliqua L. carob seeds harvested from both wild and cultivated genotypes in Turkey were subjected to mechanical scarification, soaking in hot water and dipping in sulfuric acid. All treatments hastened seed germination and seedling growth of carob compared to control. The germination percentage of control seeds were similar for both wild and cultivated genotypes (13%) a...

Clonal Propagation of Carob (ceratonia Siliqua L., Fabaceae)

Mature seeds of carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua L.) were germinated on hormone free MS medium. Efforts were made to develop multiple shoots by using axillary buds of in vitro grown seedlings on MS medium fortified with different concentrations of BA singly and BA in combination with IAA or GA3. Axillary buds produced single shoot with a moderate amount of callus at the base of the explant after c...

Evaluation of fruit and seed diversity and characterization of carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) cultivars in Algarve region

The genetic diversity of 15 carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) cultivars located in an experimental field from Algarve (Portugal) was evaluated over 7 years using 12 fruit and seed phenotypic characters, in order to characterize carob cultivars. The values of morphological traits obtained by cultivar were compared with those from other countries of the Mediterranean basin. Statistically significant d...

Lipid Profiling of the Carob Fruit (Ceratonia Siliqua L.) Using GC/LC/QTOF Accurate Mass Spectrometry

The carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua L.) is a native of the Mediterranean basin with several applications in the food, textile and cosmetics industries [1]. It belongs to the Caesalpinaceae sub-family of the family Leguminoseae [2].The pods of the carob fruit have long been used as a feed for livestock and in human nutrition, including sweets, biscuits and processed drinks, because of its high sug...

Leaf nutrient variation in mature carob (Ceratonia siliqua) trees in response to irrigation and fertilization.

Seasonal variations in leaf nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium concentrations were studied in a mature carob (Ceratonia siliqua L. cv "Mulata") orchard subjected to a 4-year irrigation and fertilization experiment. Three irrigation regimes (0, 50 and 100%), based on the evaporation values obtained from a class A pan, were tested in combination with two nitrogen (N) supply regimes in which 21 kg...
