Scale and Scope of Gene-Alcohol Interactions in Chronic Pancreatitis: A Systematic Review

چکیده
Background: Excessive alcohol consumption has long been known to be the primary cause of chronic pancreatitis (CP) but genetic risk factors have increasingly identified over past 25 years. The scale and scope gene-alcohol interactions in CP nevertheless remain unclear. Methods: All studies that had obtained variant data concurrently on alcoholic (ACP) patients, non-ACP (NACP) patients normal controls were collated. Employing as a common baseline, paired ORACP ORNACP (odds ratios associated with ACP NACP, respectively) values calculated used assess interactions. Results: Thirteen variants involving PRSS1, SPINK1, CTRC, CLDN2, CPA1, CEL CTRB1-CTRB2, varying from very rare common, Seven an > ORNACP, which was regarded immediate indicator CP. Variants < also found interact by virtue their impact age at first symptoms ACP. Alcohol Consumption as a Risk Factor for Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis: A Systematic Review and a Series of Meta-analyses
BACKGROUND Pancreatitis is a highly prevalent medical condition associated with a spectrum of endocrine and exocrine pancreatic insufficiencies. While high alcohol consumption is an established risk factor for pancreatitis, its relationship with specific types of pancreatitis and a potential threshold have not been systematically examined. METHODS We conducted a systematic literature search f...
متن کاملAssociation between alcohol consumption and pancreatic cancer: a systematic review of cohort studies
Background: Among all types of cancers, pancreatic cancer has poor prognosis with 5-year survival below 10%. In theory, alcohol intake may be a modifiable risk factor for pancreatic cancer due to its role in multiple carcinogenic and metabolic signaling pathways. In addition, alcohol consumption may lead to chronic pancreatitis which is underlying cause of pancreatic cancer. However, little is ...
متن کاملRole of Alcohol Metabolism in Chronic Pancreatitis
Alcohol abuse is the major cause of chronic inflammation of the pancreas (i.e., chronic pancreatitis). Although it has long been thought that alcoholic pancreatitis is a chronic disease from the outset, evidence is accumulating to indicate that chronic damage in the pancreas may result from repeated attacks of acute tissue inflammation and death (i.e., necroinflammation). Initially, research in...
