Scaffold based on castor oil as an osteoconductive matrix in bone repair: biocompatibility analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
To analyze the biocompatibility of scaffold produced from a natural polymer derived castor oil through hemolytic activity and antimicrobial activity, to enable clinical application. Three in vitro tests were performed: Hemolytic test - Polymer partially dissolved contact with blood agar; sheep's extract red cells solution; Antimicrobial Solid direct E. Coli S. Aureus. For tests, none samples showed hemolysis. Negative is good indicator, as maintenance clot area lesion essential for formation new tissue. test, no significant was observed against bacteria used. The not toxic cells, being viable application matrix tissue regeneration.

Osteoconductive carriers for integrated bone repair
Successful bone repair is judged in achieving restitution of space and mechanical integrity, and in regaining function. When the biology or anatomy are insufficient to attain a full repair, therapeutic use of graft material has been used to omit compliance features such as strain tolerance, reduced stiffness, and attenuated strength, and instead promote primary or membranous-type bone formation...
متن کاملThe role of the osteoconductive scaffold in synthetic bone graft.
Autogenous bone is regarded as the gold standard for bone graft materials as it provides 3 elements necessary to generate and maintain bone: scaffolding for osteoconduction, growth factors for osteoinduction, and progenitor cells for osteogenesis. Allograft is more limited than autograft in these essential elements and yields more variable clinical results. Composite synthetic grafts offer an a...

This aim of this research was to develop a novel ceramic scaffold to evaluate the response of bone after ceramic implantation in New Zealand (NZ) rabbits. Ceramics were prepared by the polymer replication method and inserted into NZ rabbits. Macroporous scaffolds with interconnected round-shaped pores (0.5-1.5 mm = were prepared). The scaffold acted as a physical support where cells with osteob...
متن کاملBone Regeneration after Demineralized Bone Matrix and Castor Oil (ricinus Communis) Polyurethane Implantation
Innocuous biocompatible materials have been searched to repair or reconstruct bone defects. Their goal is to restore the function of live or dead tissues. This study compared connective tissue and bone reaction when exposed to demineralized bovine bone matrix and a polyurethane resin derived from castor bean (Ricinus communis). Forty-five rats were assigned to 3 groups of 15 animals (control, b...
