SARS-COV2 Associated Oral Lesions- A Review

Introduction: COVID-19 disease is caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus and it was declared pandemic World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11,2020. The coronavirus infection has an affinity for ACE2 receptors attaching to them, the enters host cells. Along with many body organs like lungs, kidney, liver, upper respiratory tract, nervous system, skeletal muscles, concentration also found in abundance epithelial cells of tongue salivary glands.
 Materials Methods: Recent studies, researches, documents case reports published world medical literature year 2020-2021 were searched documented our study. search engines used PUBMED, google scholar, WEB OF SCIENCE etc.
 Results: Dysgeusia, xerostomia, sore throat, aphthous herpetiform ulcers, candidiasis, enanthema, Kawasaki lesions most common among various oral manifestations. Others includes plaque changes, gingival inflammation, necrotizing gingivitis, erythema -multiforme, angina-bullosa lesions, Melkersson-Rosenthal Syndrome, Oral mucormycosis etc.The sites mainly include tongue, gingiva, hard soft palate, buccal labial mucosa Conclusion: etiopathogenesis such cannot be directly corelated factors as stress, immunosuppression, co-infections, secondary opportunistic infections, systemic diseases, poor hygiene etc. must considered. Management stress important factor. In this review article are discussed states detail. importance earliest diagnosis kept mind prevent further complications.
