چکیده
Saffron corms are attacked by a wide variety of arthropod pest species and mites one them. Among Arachnida class bulb mite causes considerable damage to saffron crop presence this is regular feature in its cultivation. To record the occurrence mite, field study was conducted at different growing areas Kashmir. For biology pest, laboratory Department Entomology, Faculty Horticulture, Sher-e-Kashmir University Agricultural Sciences Technology, Shalimar. The mean percent infestation from all locations revealed highest lowest 25.83 12.50 recorded Dhussu research station respectively. Passing through five active stages viz., Egg, Larva, Protonymph, Tritonymph adult completed life cycle Rhizoglyphus robini. heteromorphic deutonymph or hypopal stage sometimes produced for phoresis when population overcrowded, but not observed during study. results that females laid their eggs on corms. average incubation period egg be 6.16 ±0.78 days while as other developmental periods were 5.22 ±0.68, 5.76 ±0.52, 7.00 ±0.91 25± 50C longevity male female 27.9 ±0.44 22.9 ±0.69 efficacy doses acaricides against drenching soil with chlorpyrifos 20 EC + foliar spray cyenopyrafen 30 SC showed best 4.23 leaves stunted growth chlorosis, 97.34 flower emergence 2.23 rot.

Diversity of culturable bacterial endophytes of saffron in Kashmir, India
Saffron (Crocus sativus) is a medicinally important plant. The Kashmir valley (J&K, India) emblematizes one of the major and quality saffron producing areas in the world. Nonetheless, the area has been experiencing a declining trend in the production of saffron during the last decade. Poor disease management is one of the major reasons for declining saffron production in the area. Endophytes ar...
متن کاملNo Evidence for Reproductive Isolation through Sexual Conflict in the Bulb Mite Rhizoglyphus robini
Sexual conflict leading to sexual antagonistic coevolution has been hypothesized to drive reproductive isolation in allopatric populations and hence lead to speciation. However, the generality of this speciation mechanism is under debate. We used experimental evolution in the bulb mite Rhizoglyphusrobini to investigate whether sexual conflict promotes reproductive isolation measured comprehensi...
متن کاملEvolution under relaxed sexual conflict in the bulb mite Rhizoglyphus robini.
The experimental evolution under different levels of sexual conflict have been used to demonstrate antagonistic coevolution in muscids, but among other taxa a similar approach has not been employed. Here, we describe the results of 37 generations of evolution under either experimentally enforced monogamy or polygamy in the bulb mite Rhizoglyphus robini. Three replicates were maintained for each...
متن کاملThe sexually selected sperm hypothesis, maternal effects, and sperm competitive success in the bulb mite Rhizoglyphus robini
Background: The sexually selected sperm hypothesis predicts that selection will favour female multiple mating by increasing the sperm competitive abilities of their sons. Hypothesis: Sons of multiply mated females should have higher sperm competitive abilities than sons of singly mated females. Organism: The bulb mite, Rhizoglyphus robini (Acari: Acaridae). Methods: Rhizoglyphus is a highly pro...
متن کاملLife History Consequences of the Facultative Expression of a Dispersal Life Stage in the Phoretic Bulb Mite (Rhizoglyphus robini)
Life history traits play an important role in population dynamics and correlate, both positively and negatively, with dispersal in a wide range of taxa. Most invertebrate studies on trade-offs between life history traits and dispersal have focused on dispersal via flight, yet much less is known about how life history trade-offs influence species that disperse by other means. In this study, we i...
