Wildfire occurrence frequency is increasing worldwide, generating more and concern, especially in Wildland-Urban interfaces (WUI) Wildland-Industrial Interfaces (WII) areas. Wildfires approaching WII can cause severe damage to people industrial assets. In these scenarios, storage tanks present installations are among the most vulnerable pieces of equipment, since they usually located proximity plant boundary. If hazardous substances stored, tank caused by fire lead loss containment trigger technological accident escalating consequences. Preserving integrity this type equipment case wildfires paramount importance. The study proposes a stepwise methodology for evaluation safety distances between vegetation that may be affected wildfire. According available data on wildfire, lay-out likely affected, provides applied design fuel-reduced fringes around facility. proposed represents quantitative tool calculation guide managers assist regulators definition reliable standards. comparison resulting from with regulations guidelines currently use different countries rises concern about possible underestimation required wildfires.
