Safety and Effectiveness of Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy for Patients with Stones in a Solitary Kidney: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) has been widely applied in the treatment of isolated renal stones recent years. However, its safety and effectiveness for patients with remains controversial. In this work, “nephrolithiasis”, “stones”, "renal", “nephrolithotomy”, “percutaneous”, “PCNL”, “solitary”, “single”, “kidney” were taken as key words to search relevant studies PCNL solitary kidney PubMed, Web Science, Embase. The type literature included was case series study, period from January 1, 1990 October 31, 2021. Basic data, stone size, removal rate (SFR), complications, mean operation time, length stays extracted. quality assessed using National Institute Health Care Excellence (NICE) system, data analysed metan metareg commands Stata14.1, sensitivity metaninf. Finally, 14 a total 1256 included. adjuvant percutaneous 20.3% (95% CI: 11.8%, 28.9%), initial SFR 71.8% 64.9%, 78.8%), final 89.7% 86.0%, 93.4%). overall complication 25.5% 18.8%, 32.3%), incidence major complications 6.3% 3.8%, 9.3%), blood transfusion 7.4% 5.3%, 9.9%), fever 9.1% 13.7%). It is suggested that low stones.
