Rydberg atom-based field sensing enhancement using a split-ring resonator

We investigate the use of a split-ring resonator (SRR) incorporated with an atomic-vapor cell to improve sensitivity and minimal detectable electric (E) field Rydberg atom-based sensors. In this approach, sub-wavelength SRR is placed around atomic vapor-cell filled cesium atoms for E-field measurements at 1.3 GHz. The provides factor 100 in enhancement measurement sensitivity. Using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) Aulter–Townes splitting, down 5 mV/m are demonstrated SRR, while absence 500 mV/m. demonstrate that by combining EIT heterodyne mixer allows 5.5 μV/mHz, which two-orders magnitude improvement than when not used.
