Rutile exsolution lamellae of garnet in quartz eclogite from the Sanbagawa Belt, Mt. Gongen, central Shikoku, Japan

چکیده
Needle-shaped rutile inclusions occur in garnet within the quartz-eclogite at Mt. Gongen Sanbagawa belt, central Shikoku. They are approximately 5–25 µm along long axis and typically oriented three directions, each intersecting 120°. This indicates that needle-shaped is a lamella exsolved from garnet. Garnet with needle-rutile restricted to quartz-poor domain of quartz eclogite sample, which consist quartz, garnet, omphacite, phengite, epidote, kyanite, hornblende. grains lamellae show composition almandine-pyrope series 14–21 mol% grossular content. Rutile exsolution were concentrated range 27–34 pyrope crystals. The host has higher TiO2 content (TiO2 = 0.06–0.19 wt%) than those rutile-free areas. These chemical compositional characteristics suggest Ti was incorporated into crystal structure during growth subsequently partially as retrograde stage. have generally been regarded indicators ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism, but present report where no coesite found, provides evidence natural sample appearance not necessarily under conditions.

Cation Exchange Between Piemontite and Garnet in Piemontite-Quartz Schists from Asemi-Gawa Area of Central Shikoku, Sanbagawa Metamorphic Belt, Japan
In the Asemi-gawa area of intermediate high-pressure and low-temperature Sanbagawa metamorphic belt in central Shikoku, Japan, piemontite-quartz schists are common in which cation exchange between piemontite and garnet has been studied. Piemontite in contact with garnet usually contains two zones in which core is enriched in Mn3+ and surrounded by a rim rich in Fe3+. Garnet is Ca-Fe-bearing spe...

متن کاملSector-zoned aegirine in Sanbagawa quartz schist from the western Kii Peninsula, central Japan
Sector-zoned aegirine was found in a specimen of Sanbagawa quartz schist from the Iimori region of the western Kii Peninsula, central Japan. The schist consists of quartz, aegirine, albite, amphibole (magnesioriebeckite to manganocummingtonite), garnet (spessartine), rhodochrosite, pyrophanite, jacobsite, and apatite. Aegirine occurs as subhedral to euhedral prismatic crystals less than 250 μm ...

15 صفحه اولEclogite-facies fluid infiltration: constraints from dO zoning in garnet
In situ analysis reveals that eclogite-facies garnets are zoned in dO with lower values in the core and rims that are *1.5 to 2.5 % higher. This pattern is present in 9 out of 12 garnets analyzed by SIMS from four orogenic eclogite terranes, and correlates with an increase in the mole fraction of pyrope and Mg/Fe ratio from core to rim, indicating prograde garnet growth. At the maximum temperat...
