Round Robin Laboratory Testing of a Scaled 10 MW Floating Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine

This paper documents the round robin testing campaign carried out on a floating wind turbine as part of EU H2020 MaRINET2 project. A 1/60th scale model 10 MW platform was tested in wave basins four different locations around Europe. The tests each facility included decay tests, regular and irregular waves with without thrust, to characterise mooring system well itself. For wind, only thrust considered it fixed pre-selected levels. Hence, this work focuses hydrodynamic responses semi-submersible foundation. It found that global surge stiffness comparable across facilities, except one case where azimuth angles were used for lines. Heave pitch had same coefficient periods all basins. Response Amplitude Operators (RAOs) compare from facilities. shape motion RAOs globally similar some particular frequencies.
