ROS Regulation Mechanism for Mitigation of Abiotic Stress in Plants
نویسندگان
چکیده
Plants respond to various stresses during their lifecycle among which abiotic stress is the most severe one comprising heat, cold, drought, salinity, flooding, etc. take a heavy toll on crop yield worldwide in every corresponding year. ROS has dual role mechanisms where, at high levels, they are toxic cells while same time, molecule can function as signal transducer that activates local well systemic plant defense response against stress. The common species Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), Superoxide anions (O2-), Hydroxyl radicals (OH-), and Singlet oxygen (1O2) results of physiological metabolism often controlled by enzymatic non-enzymatic antioxidant systems. generally accumulate plants biotic conditions resulting oxidative damage ultimately leads programmed cell death. Many scavenging pathways have been studied responses. Through careful manipulation levels plants, we enhance tolerance under unfavorable environmental conditions. This chapter presents an overview regulation essential enzymes involved thoroughly discussed below.

ROS Regulation During Abiotic Stress Responses in Crop Plants
Abiotic stresses such as drought, cold, salt and heat cause reduction of plant growth and loss of crop yield worldwide. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) including hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), superoxide anions (O2 (•-)), hydroxyl radical (OH•) and singlet oxygen ((1)O2) are by-products of physiological metabolisms, and are precisely controlled by enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant defense system...
متن کاملROS-mediated abiotic stress-induced programmed cell death in plants
During the course of their ontogenesis plants are continuously exposed to a large variety of abiotic stress factors which can damage tissues and jeopardize the survival of the organism unless properly countered. While animals can simply escape and thus evade stressors, plants as sessile organisms have developed complex strategies to withstand them. When the intensity of a detrimental factor is ...
متن کاملAbiotic Stress in Plants
Living on the same planet, plants means a lot to us. No matter being taken, as our food or treated with great commercial significance, plants are so indispensable that we have to learn how to protect, make use of, and most important of all, get on well with them. In the first place, what we all understand is: plants are distinguished from us or other animals by being unable to escape from the s...
متن کاملEditorial: ROS Regulation during Plant Abiotic Stress Responses
Plants frequently encounter a combination of abiotic stresses in their natural habitats. Abiotic stresses, including drought, salt, cold, heat, and heavy metal etc., modulate phytohormone metabolism and enhance expression level of transcription factors which activate stress responsive genes. During plant stress response, reactive oxygen species (ROS) act as important molecules and play pivotal ...
متن کاملCircadian regulation of abiotic stress tolerance in plants
Extremes of temperatures, drought and salinity cause widespread crop losses throughout the world and impose severe limitations on the amount of land that can be used for agricultural purposes. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop crops that perform better under such abiotic stress conditions. Here, we discuss intriguing, recent evidence that circadian clock contributes to plants' ability t...
