Root, Yield, and Quality of Alfalfa Affected by Soil Salinity in Northwest China

چکیده
Growing crops in salt-affected soils has become increasingly important for sustainable development arid and semi-arid regions. Knowledge on the responses of alfalfa root development, yield, quality to soil salinity is critical assessing productivity profitability soils. A field experiment with a total six treatments combining three levels two biosolids fertilizer was conducted 2018 2019 northwest China. For treatments, salt addition rates were 2‰, 4‰, 6‰ 0–60 cm dry weight, while commercial added at rate 0 1.5 Mg·ha−1 0–10 treatment. Root parameters length (RL), surface area (RSA), diameter (RD), volume (RV), matter (RDM) obtained end each year, yield crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral (NDF) measured cut years. Most significantly reduced by highest treatment 2018, but not affected 2019. Higher consistently led lower plant height higher CP, ADF NDF both The absolute slope value regression between respective content smaller later cuts. relationship varied depending years, found be good predictor Biosolids had no significant effect any root, growth, or parameters. results are expected assist determining proper range, maximizing that takes into consideration.

متن کاملRoot growth and yield of maize as affected by soil compaction and cover crops
The yield of rainfed crops is commonly limited by the availability of soil water during the summer growing season. Channels produced by cover crop roots in fall/winter when soils are relatively moist may facilitate the penetration of compacted soils by subsequent crop roots in summer when soils are relatively dry and hard. Our objective was to determine the effects of fall cover crops on maize ...
