Rollout event-triggered control: reconciling event- and time-triggered control

Abstract Event-triggered control (ETC) and time-triggered (TTC), the classical concepts to determine transmission instants for networked systems, each come with drawbacks: It is difficult tune ETC such that a certain bandwidth respected, whereas TTC cannot adapt sampling interval current state of system. In this article, we provide an overview over rollout ETC, method aimed at reconciling advantages TTC. We unite two variants under common framework present conditions convergence compliance predefined limit. Furthermore, demonstrate satisfies performance bound it allows very flexible scheduling similar ETC. The mentioned beneficial properties are illustrated through extensive numerical simulations.
